An Oxfam spokesperson recently stated that:

“International attention has turned away from Darfur at a time when it is desperately needed. Recent fighting has killed hundreds of people, forced thousands from their homes and hindered access to some of the worst affected areas for months. In areas such as Eastern Jebel Marra, humanitarian workers do not have any access at all."

On May 13, protesters from Africa Action and ACT UP, among others, held a civil disobedience protest outside a Democratic Party fundraiser in NYC to protest Obama's record on AIDS programs. As one protester put it: "he has consistently cut funding to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief."
